As far as training, I've been following the WODs at www.CrossFitGyms.ca, and for a period in February 2008, I also did 3-4 WODs from www.CrossFitEndurance.com.
As far as nutrition, I was initially on a low carb, low fat, high protein diet. In February-March 2009, I was on strict zone 24 blocks per day with 2x the fat. I went from 164lb at 8% bodyfat to 160lb at 5% bodyfat, and my performance suffered. In March-April 2009, I tried a paleo diet (including cutting out dairy), but still including some protein bars here and there because of convenience at work. Since then, I've been on more of a Zone-ish bent -- eating an eyeballed mix of macronutrients a little bit at each meal to satiety. E.g. I will usually have a combo of protein (lean meat), carb (fruit or vegetable usually), and fat (usually nuts, sometimes cheese) every 2-3 hours. Since August 2009, I've added an immediate post-WOD protein shake (about 30g) and dried yams or fig (about 30g of carb).
My results have been mixed. As with most CrossFitters, I improved quickly in the first few months. But, since then, while I have continued to improve slowly in strength, endurance, and power, I have been wildly inconsistent.
This blog is to track my further journeys in the CrossFit world. I've been fortunate enough to be allowed the opportunity to try to the main site programming, and I am very excited to see what it does for my progress. My ultimate goal is to qualify for the CrossFit Games in 2011. This blog will document my journey.
